GeoIT: The Department of Geography's Information Technologies Support Team

GeoIT is the Department of Geography's Information Technogies (IT) support team. It represents a partnership between the University of Calgary's central IT department and specialists here in the department. Below is an overview of our support services, organized by category.

General Computer Hardware/Software Support

Are you a student in the Department of Geography and have a general computer hardware or software issue? Common requests include eID accounts, email and webmail, network and wireless, Blackboard, antivirus, webdisk, and software training. Geography students have access to all the services at the University of Calgary's IT Support Centre. There are three main ways to access these services:

  1. Phone the IT Support Centre at 220-5555.
  2. Email them at itsupport@ucalgary.ca.
  3. Submit an online service request. Select the appropriate topic under the "Service Request Selection" menu on the right.

Geography Computer Lab Support (ES 307, 407, 415)

Are you having trouble with hardware or software in one of the Geography computing labs (ES 307, 407, or 415)? These facilities are supported primarily by GeoIT technicians within the Department. There are two main ways to reach these services:

  1. Email geoit@ucalgary.ca.
  2. Submit an online service request. Select "Other Issue" under the "Miscellaneous" menu item, and be sure to cite GeoIT in order to get your request routed quickly and properly.
